I'm on a posting marathon

Wow, what is this? The fourth one in two days. But I have a friend who always asks me what Ashlyn's hair looks like if it doesn't have gel in it. Maybe she thinks I'm weird for putting gel in a three year olds hair(she has two boys so I guess she doesn't have to worry about "fixing" hair), but as this picture shows, there is a definite need for gel in Ashlyn's hair. This is how she looks when she wakes up in the morning. And no, I did not brush it up to make it look all frizzy. It really looks like this all on its own. I'm hoping as it grows, it will learn to lay flatter, but I'm not sure. So, for all those wondering why the heck I gel my three year olds hair, THIS is why. It needs it.

It's Leah's turn

Leah loves to follow in her sisters footsteps and has already learned how fun it is to dress up and look pretty. Don't they know they already look pretty. You can't tell in this picture, but she also has Ashlyn's "glass" slippers on. Aaah....

It's time for Dress up

This one is for Grammy.

Ashlyn has become very girly lately and loves to dress up in all her pretty clothes. Most of these clothes and accessories have been hand made by her Grammy. So thanks Grammy, for making Ashlyn look so beautiful.

Ashlyn's First Purchase

Ever since Christmas, Ashlyn has been asking for another "my little pony" doll (since she got a pony castle and three little dolls as her gift from Santa). So in February I got her a little coin purse and told her that she could earn quarters for being a good girl and for helping me around the house(like helping make her bed, or getting me a diaper for Leah). It took her a couple of months, but she finally earned enough quarters (22=$5.50) to buy a little pony. So we headed over to Walmart. She picked out the one she wanted, and paid for it all by herself. I know it may sound silly, but I was so proud of her. Hopefully this was a small start for her in understanding the value of money. Way to go cutie!!!

Ashlyn loves California

This one is for the memory books.

I was in the car with the kids driving down to Encino a couple of weeks ago.
As we merge onto the 101,

Ashlyn says, "Mom, I love California."

I say, "you do. That's good. Why do you love California?"

Ashlyn: "It has so many beautiful cars."

Me: HaHa...you love California because it has so many beautiful cars? Are you my city girl?

Ashlyn: Yeah, I'm a city girl. Are you a city girl mom?

Me: No, I like the country.

Ashlyn: (with a puzzled look on her face) The country? Why do you like the country?

Maybe you had to be there, but I was thought it was pretty funny. I especially thought it was funny that Ashlyn loves CA because of all the beautiful cars. I guess that's just about all she sees from her carseat. More and more cars. At least they are beautiful to her. I just usually think they are in my way.

Fondant Class

So, I took a fondant cake decorating class tonight through the parks and rec center here in Santa Clarita. I've done a few cakes in my day, but I have never worked with fondant and had no idea how to. It was surprisingly easy and lots of fun. Here is the cake I made tonight. It's not perfect, but I was quite proud of it, being my first and all.

Monday at Universal Studios

On Monday, we all headed over to Universal Studios. It was a beautiful day and such a fun place for the girls to play. I think Ashlyn spent the majority of her time in the Nickelodeon Wild Thornberry's forest full of foam balls. I wish I had gotten a picture of it. Even Leah thought it was a pretty cool place. They were both such troopers and did so well being drug around all day. Here's a picture of Leah at the end of the day. Frazzled, but still has a smile on her face. Infact, I think she was slap stick silly. She was just laughing and laughing. She could hardly walk straight. It was pretty funny.

Sunday

On Sunday we dyed Easter eggs and ate and ate and ate. Did I mention we ate? It was very yummy. We all had a very Happy Easter.

Saturday at the Park

Paul's family came into town this past weekend to spend Easter with us. We had a blast. Here are a couple of pictures from the weekend events. On Saturday we went to the local park where they were hosting a huge egg hunt. It was kind of a madhouse, so you had to act fast. Ashlyn acted as if she was shopping for eggs though. Very carefully selecting the ones she wanted. So consequently, she only got about 4 eggs. It was okay. It was just for fun anyway.

Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings

The credit for this recipe goes entirely to Beth Tait, who gave me this recipe yesterday. I made it today and it was so so yummy and I'm not a fan of Dumplings. It was excellent though. So, thanks Beth for the new recipe. I already added it to my recipe box.

4 chicken breast halves
2 Tbsp. Butter
2 cans cream of Chicken soup (or you could do one can C.of Chicken and one can C.of Celery)
1/2 onion, finely diced (I used onion powder)
2 pkg. refrigerator biscuits (I got the homestyle kind, not the flaky)
Chicken Broth

Place Chicken, butter, soup and onion in slow cooker. Fill with enough broth to cover the chicken completely.
Cover and cook on high for 5-6 hours. About 30 min. before it's done, place torn biscuit dough in slow cooker ( I torn mine into pretty small pieces). Cook until dough is no longer raw in the center.

You can also add carrots, peas, celery, potatoes. Whatever veggies you want. It adds more flavor and color. Yum yum...hope you enjoy it.

Oh, one more thing. I cut the recipe in half and it made plenty for my little family with a little leftover. (Leah had a little and Ashlyn ate none.)
